Loretha Karnes, 1930 – 2018, was very active in the community as a business woman and mother to 4 children, grandmother to 6, Great grandmother to 7 children.

She is the founder and a Director of Calvary Ministries, a Tennessee nonprofit organization and co-founder of Karnes Kids.

It would be impossible to describe the many ways in which she served and volunteered. She was an encourager and mentor to all ages both within and outside the church.

Loretha served in a number of professional roles throughout the years including teaching in the public schools and doing artwork for local schools and colleges.

Loretha was employed for years at Karnes Legal Services as Receptionist and Clerk.

Through the years she was a minister, Sunday School teacher, Children’s Church Director, Missionette leader, pianist, choir director, minister’s wife.  She gave to others through her time money and talent through counseling, Bible studies, encouraging, letter writing, providing food, clothing, transportation and educational supplies to the needy in the community.  She was a servant leader in the community.  She maintained closets and pantries and given clothes and food to the needy for over 80 years. She was instrumental in starting several churches throughout the world.  A wing of a Mexican Orphanage is named after her, as “Lo’s Ladies”. She regularly communicated with Missionaries encouraging them and helping with their material needs.

Loretha is a lovely picture of the Proverbs 31 woman. She exhibited confidence and strength of character.  She was a beautiful and rare gem inside and out.  Her family and friends trusted in her. Her life and deeds were constant blessings to others.  Her godliness was marked with consistency. She used wisdom and discernment in how to meet the needs of those with whom she is in contact.  She left a wonderful heritage to those around her.
